The Vast Inland

Deelstra: “As a self-aware person, I'm aware that I need to develop. Stagnation is degeneration. No, that's not me! I want to become a better and more valuable person, but how exactly do I do that? My goal is to grow, but in which direction?

I'm getting to know my inner landscape better and beginning to understand the seasons. Yet, I regularly get lost. If only there were footpaths and directional signs here. The interior feels confusing and chaotic; I should really create order here. I'll drive stakes into the sand to mark my territory. Perhaps I can cover it all by building a large shed over it. Or I could spray a sulfuric mist over it so that sunlight never touches the ground, then there would be no more difference between day and night. I'd like to stretch a net so that nothing can escape. I'd like to dig a moat so that nothing can enter unnoticed. There must be a wall against strangers. There must be a rock-solid structure. But to do this, I first need to get to know the area. My tape measure will help me.”
